From Aunt Kitty’s Storybook. One day I was looking at a pack of cards and noticed something I’d never noticed before.
The Meeting
The Royalty of Cards one day,
Got together on that day.
One merry merry merry day,
Merry it was, I must say.
It started out so peacefully,
The Jokers were on bended knees.
The birds all sang a happy tune,
The bees all hummed the song of June.
Then all went wrong.
Suddenly stopped the Kings’ game of ping-pong,
The Queens all quit their tea,
The Jacks all stopped their croquet, oh, me!
For, in passing, the King of Clubs
Brought attention to, (my, what a flub!)
The King of Hearts, (oh, what a crash!)
The King of Hearts had no mustache!
Is that a problem? yelled King Heart.
Well you are the only one, (that tart!)
King Heart pulled his sword.
Oh, Lord!
The Queen of Spades, (so crude!)
With her staff whipped the Jack of Diamonds (how rude!)
The Queen of Diamonds gave King Spades attitude.
And, (no one knows why) the Jokers both moo-ed.
Queen Clubs punched King Diamond (to many a surprise)
Jack Heart kicked Jack Spade, splashed him with marmalade.
Queen Heart put her hand to her eyes.
And Jack Clubs fled, Flee he did, to find a sweet maid.
One who would not punch or kick or
Poke fun, for sure,
One who would not give attitude, and most of all
(This she SHALL not do)
SHE MUST NOT MOO.
I love that one! 🙂 So creative!
